I worked with DNEG in partnership with Dimension Studio on this project to build Rome.
There were dozens of Unreal Engine environments produced for Virtual Production at the Cinecitta Studio in Rome. The main environment I worked on was the Colosseum.
My role centered on environment polishing, lighting, and shader work to seamlessly blend digital scenes with the physical set. I also contributed to the asset pipeline, ensuring smooth integration for this large-scale environment, and facilitated the Houdini-Unreal workflow for asset cleanup and crowd generation. In addition, I worked on cleaning and in-engine compositing of volumetrically captured crowd actors.
Thanks to a talented team and collaborative effort, we successfully brought 130,000 crowds into the Colosseum while maintaining high visual quality across the environment and lighting.
